Why JR Layout Exists
I set up events for a company with 15 different rooms. Every single day, we're creating new room configurations for different clients - weddings, corporate events, parties, meetings. The process was always the same: grab paper, sketch the layout, show the client, make changes, redraw everything.
The Breaking Point: A single layout took 5-10 minutes to draw by hand. When clients requested changes (which is completely normal and expected), I'd have to start over. New paper, new sketch, hoping my handwriting was legible enough for the setup crew to understand.
The frustrating part? We already knew our rooms inside and out. We used the same tables, chairs, and equipment constantly. We didn't need architectural precision or fancy 3D renderings. We just needed a fast, visual way to show clients "here's what your event will look like" and communicate clearly with our setup team.
I looked at existing solutions. They were either:
- Too expensive ($50-100/month for features we didn't need)
- Too complicated (CAD software with steep learning curves)
- Too limited (only one room, restrictive caps)
- Too slow (still took forever to make simple changes)
So I built JR Layout. It's not trying to be AutoCAD or a professional architecture tool. It's built for one thing: helping you create clean, visual room layouts as fast as possible.
The result? What took 5-10 minutes now takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Clients can see exactly what their space will look like. Setup crews get clear, printed instructions. And when changes happen (because they always do), it takes seconds to adjust and resend.
